As a museum, one of our most noteworthy functions is the conservation of the heritage that we have inherited. This heritage is the flour factory –dating from the end of the 19th century- and a wide range of other milling, laboratory and office supplies and objects from the factory. The museum collection is also comprised of farming implements, the majority of which are from donations.

In order to be able to imbue this heritage with a social benefit, another of our entity's tasks is the interpretation and dissemination of this heritage through exhibitions. They are supported by documentation on all the objects that the museum safeguards. 

DONATIONS

Since its establishment, the Ecomuseu–Farinera has received several donations that have let us increase the collection and conserve the objects and technical documents related to the evolution of the flour-making industry in Catalonia and, in particular, the evolution of the flour factory in Castelló d’Empúries and the relationship between mankind and the environment surrounding Empordà (including traditional trades).
